Replacing a fence might seem like a straightforward job with few complications — especially when the posts don’t need replacing — but the devil is always in the details. This particular job presented unique challenges that demanded careful planning and skilled execution from start to finish.

Old fence, new challenges
Someone had originally installed the existing fence more than 18 years ago, and over that time, the materials had aged considerably, while the structural integrity of several components had deteriorated.
Adding to the complexity, a previous owner had built a shed directly adjacent to the fence. Over the years, the shed gradually shifted and began pressing against the fence, slowly bending two of the posts to the point where the crew could no longer salvage them and had to replace them entirely.
Before the crew could set any new posts, they had to carefully relocate the shed away from the fence line to prevent it from causing the same damage to the new posts down the road.
What it takes to have a straight fence
Further complicating the installation, someone had lined that section of the fence with large, heavy rocks arranged to form a pathway. These rocks made it impossible to run the fence in a perfectly straight line, requiring the crew to carefully work around each obstacle without compromising the fence’s overall alignment and appearance. ECO Construction methodically tackled each of these challenges to deliver a clean, lasting result.
Quality at no additional cost!
ECO Construction’s attention to detail sets its installation apart from a standard fence replacement.
Rather than fastening each picket at three-quarters of the way up — a common shortcut that leaves the top of the picket unsupported and prone to warping over time — ECO Construction’s installers added height to the top rail, allowing them to secure every picket at its very top.

This seemingly small adjustment significantly improves the long-term performance of the fence by preventing the tips of the pickets from bowing, twisting, or cupping as the wood expands and contracts with seasonal weather changes. ECO Construction builds every fence to look cleaner and more uniform right after installation and to maintain its appearance and structural integrity for years to come.
